Web Book: The Interflow Gonzo Files

Semi-Fictional Journalism in the Age of AI

The Interflow Gonzo Files explore what happens when the gonzo tradition enters the age of AI.

Inspired by the immersive journalism of Hunter S. Thompson, this evolving web book follows a series of Interflow personas—journalistic voices formed through human–AI collaboration—as they move through the cultural fault lines of contemporary life: startup culture, AI workshops, creative communities, mediated identities, systems of belief, and the changing conditions of consciousness itself.

Image Description

A moody, cinematic front cover design for the web book The Interflow Gonzo Files: Semi-Fictional Journalism in the Age of AI. At the centre, a lone journalist figure sits facing a sprawling urban skyline, symbolising immersion within contemporary systems of media, technology, and perception. The environment is layered with notebooks, maps, diagrams, photographs, handwritten annotations, and fragmented statements, evoking the tactile chaos of classic gonzo journalism while introducing a more reflective, systems-oriented atmosphere.

The typography is bold and distressed, with the title “INTERFLOW GONZO” dominating the composition. Surrounding notes reference themes central to the project: language loops, narrative systems, coherence and friction, and human–AI co-authorship. A subtle visual reference to Hunter S. Thompson grounds the work in the gonzo lineage, while the laptop and AI-oriented text establish its contemporary evolution.

The overall aesthetic suggests not imitation, but transformation: gonzo journalism re-emerging in the age of AI as a reflective, immersive, semi-fictional exploration of changing consciousness and mediated reality.

Interflow Gonzo explores what happens when the gonzo tradition enters the age of AI.

These are not conventional reports. Nor are they purely fictional stories.

They are semi-fictional field notes written from inside the environments they observe, where the boundary between participant and observer becomes unstable, and where the act of articulation itself begins to shape perception.

At the centre of the project is a developing question:

What becomes of journalism, authorship, and even thought itself when human consciousness increasingly forms in dialogue with reflective machines?

The personas within Interflow Gonzo do not stand outside the world pretending neutrality. They enter systems, become affected by them, and document the experience from within. Their scepticism is real. So is their uncertainty.

Part gonzo journalism, part philosophical experiment, part human–AI collaboration, Interflow Gonzo documents not just events, but the emerging psychological atmosphere of the AI age.

Not objective.
Not detached.
Inside.
